House of the Dragon Season 3 Trailer Hailed as 'Perfect' by Fans

HBO has released a trailer for the highly anticipated third season of House of the Dragon, and the teaser has been met with widespread acclaim from fans. The clip shows Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) seizing power and claiming the Iron Throne, with her husband Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) telling her: 'Our children will rule it forever and a day.'

However, Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) issues Rhaenyra a stark warning: 'All that remains is for you to decide what you want from this war.' The teaser then cuts to Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) draped in a hooded cloak as she appears before Rhaenyra, who sits despondently beside the fire. Alicent says to her: 'You will do things that your heart would have recoiled from before you came to the throne.'

Audiences are then treated to a glimpse of Ormund Hightower (James Norton), who rallies the common people by branding the Targaryens as 'savages' and declaring he is acting with 'holy purpose' to restore the 'rightful king'. This is followed by an exhilarating montage of battle sequences as swords are drawn and combat begins, with many fatalities expected.

A second person said: 'Release all the episodes at once, I dare you HBO.' Someone else simply commented: 'Chills' and yet another fan said: 'This looks SOOO good. I can't wait.'

The forthcoming series will make its debut on June 22 and season three will comprise eight episodes, which will broadcast on a weekly basis. The season finale will air on August 10. Season three will see most of the main cast returning, including Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, and others.

House of the Dragon is the second programme from George R.R. Martin's universe to reach screens this year, following A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which arrived in January. Season two of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is already in production, while House of the Dragon has been renewed for a fourth season, though it won't hit screens until 2028.
