In an exclusive interview, Hollyoaks actress Jessica Fox has publicly appealed to the show's producers to bring back the iconic character Justin Burton, despite his offscreen death in 2023. Fox, who portrays Nancy Osborne on the long-running Channel 4 soap, argues there is "unfinished business" that justifies a dramatic return for the fan-favourite figure.
Seventeen-Year Absence and Controversial Offscreen Death
Justin Burton, originally played by Chris Fountain, departed Hollyoaks in 2009 after a successful stint that left viewers hopeful for a future comeback. Fountain himself had expressed interest in reprising the role, making the decision to kill off the character in 2023—as part of a storyline involving his son Charlie Dean—particularly shocking and unpopular with the audience.
Jessica Fox remains unconvinced by this narrative twist, however. She stated emphatically, "I don't buy it, we didn't see a body and how many times have we killed Claire now? Dead doesn't mean what it used to in soap land." Her comments highlight the common soap opera trope of characters returning from presumed death, suggesting Burton's fate could easily be reversed.

"I still feel there is unfinished business with Justin and Charlie and Nancy and that whole group," she explained.
