Grant Mitchell's Dramatic Return to EastEnders Revealed

EastEnders has unveiled first-look images showcasing the highly anticipated return of Ross Kemp as Grant Mitchell to the BBC soap. The pictures capture Grant's emotional reunion with his siblings Phil and Sam Mitchell, as well as his long-estranged son Mark Fowler Jr.

A Decade-Long Separation Ends

This marks the first time Grant has seen his son in ten years. Back in 2016, Grant discovered that Michelle Fowler's son Mark was his child, with Mark learning the truth shortly after. However, neither acted on this revelation, and they went their separate ways. Now, their reunion is set against a backdrop of growing concern for troubled Phil Mitchell.

Phil has been struggling with depression following a heartbreaking storyline last year. Compounding his distress is the declining health of his close friend Nigel Bates, who is battling dementia. With Phil in a bad way, Sam and Mark agree that Grant should return home and be informed about Nigel's condition.

The Mitchell Family Dynamics

Mark wonders if this crisis might bring the Mitchells back together again, prompting him to reach out to Grant via voicemail next week. The scenes of Grant's return are scheduled to air on Monday 27 April, confirming his comeback date. How Phil will react to Grant's presence in Albert Square remains uncertain, and there is potential for awkwardness between Grant and Mark as they navigate their renewed relationship.

Ross Kemp's Delightful Comeback

It was announced in February that Ross Kemp, who first debuted as Grant in 1990, would be reprising his role this year. Discussing his return, Kemp expressed his enthusiasm. "I'm truly delighted to be stepping back into Grant Mitchell's shoes and returning to EastEnders later this year," he said. "As well as exploring Grant's attempts to reconnect with his son Mark, it's especially an honour to be part of Nigel's powerful ongoing dementia storyline, which holds deep personal meaning for me due to a close family connection in real life."

Executive Producer Teases Drama

EastEnders' Executive Producer Ben Wadey also shared his excitement about the return. "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Ross back once more to the legendary role of Grant," he commented. "The Mitchells remain one of EastEnders' defining dynasties, and we can't wait to see them reunited again. As always when Grant is around, drama inevitably follows him."

EastEnders continues to air Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, promising viewers more gripping storylines with the Mitchell family at the forefront.
