BBC Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones has signed off from the popular daytime show for the remainder of 2025, confirming a festive break for both himself and co-host Helen Skelton.
Final Show of the Year and Panto Commitments
The Welsh broadcaster presented the year's final episode of the BBC programme on Friday, December 19th, alongside Skelton. Jones is currently balancing his television duties with a starring role in the pantomime Sleeping Beauty at Cardiff's New Theatre, where he plays Prince Gethin of Gabalfa.
This theatrical commitment has necessitated a temporary step back from his regular morning TV slot. He used the Friday broadcast to inform viewers of the schedule, stating the show would be taking a break and returning at the usual time of 9.30am on Monday, January 5th.
A Festive Farewell to Viewers
The programme closed with festive performances, including one from Alfie Boe and a final gift from the Bantam of the Opera choir. Both presenters shared warm Christmas wishes with their audience.
Helen Skelton told viewers: "From all of us, wherever you are, whoever you're with this Christmas, we hope you have reasons to look forward and be thankful. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."
Jones also reminded fans about a documentary charting the choir's emotional backstories, airing on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday at 4pm.
Jones's Instagram Update on Panto and Schedule
Ahead of the final show, Gethin Jones posted a video message to his Instagram followers, giving an insight into his pantomime routine and confirming his Friday return to Morning Live.
"Good morning, just on my way to the theatre for a two-show day. All going well, I haven't been booed off yet, I see that as a positive," he said, also mentioning ongoing rehab for his back.
He directly addressed questions about his TV schedule, saying: "I'm very happy to say that I'll be back with the team on Friday. I'll be hosting on Friday with Hel. It's the last Morning Live of the year."
He explained that after two panto shows in Cardiff on Sunday, he would head back for the new series in January, marking the halfway point of his pantomime run.
