Danny Dyer Teases Daughter Over Rivals Sex Scenes and Denies Traitors Rumours
Danny Dyer on Rivals Sex Scenes and Traitors Denial

EastEnders legend Danny Dyer has playfully teased his daughter Dani about the upcoming second series of the period comedy-drama Rivals, revealing that it will feature even more explicit sex scenes than before. The 48-year-old actor, who portrays electronics businessman Freddie Jones in the raunchy Disney+ adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper's 1988 novel, made the comments during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show this weekend alongside his daughter.

Rivals Series Two Intimacy Details

Danny Dyer addressed his daughter directly during the interview, stating emphatically: "I don't think you'll be able to watch much of it!" He elaborated on the intimate content, explaining: "There was a scene on the last series... The love-making, I don't watch. The last one there wasn't that much."

The actor's character Freddie Jones is married to social climber Valerie, played by Lisa McGrillis, in what is described as a loveless marriage. Throughout the storyline, Freddie develops a strong attraction to Lizzie Vereker, portrayed by Katherine Parkinson, with whom he eventually begins a relationship.

Celebrity Traitors Speculation Addressed

In a surprising turn, Danny Dyer firmly denied widespread rumours that he would be participating in the second series of The Celebrity Traitors. Despite reports from sources claiming he was "top of the wish list" and that producers considered him "absolute gold" for the reality competition, Dyer stated unequivocally: "That's absolute b******s. I don't know why they're saying it."

The actor clarified his position, saying: "If they ask me I'll do it, but no one's asked me. I would f***ing declare it. I'm not on it, you'll see when it comes on." Other celebrities reportedly being considered for the show include Richard E. Grant, Hugh Bonneville, Alison Hammond, and David Mitchell.

Dani Dyer's Strictly Come Dancing Experience

Meanwhile, Danny's daughter Dani Dyer, the 29-year-old Love Island alum, discussed her brief involvement with Strictly Come Dancing last year. She was among the first celebrities announced for the 2025 series and had been partnered with professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin during pre-recorded segments.

Tragically, Dani was forced to withdraw from the competition before the first live show after sustaining a fractured ankle during rehearsals. She expressed her disappointment, saying: "I'd love to do it again. If they rang me, I'd answer the phone. I was devastated. It was hell for me when I hurt my foot, I was so sad."

Jonathan Ross Show Appearance

The father-daughter duo joined host Jonathan Ross on his self-titled ITV chat show this Saturday, February 21st, where they discussed their respective projects alongside fellow guests Patrick Dempsey, Jack Whitehall, and musician Rebecca Lucy Taylor, known professionally as Self Esteem.

Danny Dyer, who played the popular character Mick Carter in EastEnders from 2013 until his departure in 2022, continues to expand his acting portfolio with roles in productions like Rivals. The show's first series featured an ensemble cast including David Tennant, Aidan Turner, and Emily Attack.

The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday at 9:25 PM on ITV1 and the streaming platform ITVX.
