The BBC has acquired Dustfall, a new six-part crime drama starring Anna Torv, for BBC iPlayer and BBC One. The series, currently in production on the Gold Coast of Australia, is based on the novel The Unbelieved by Vikki Petraitis.
Adapted for television by BAFTA nominee Dianne Taylor, Stuart Page, Belinda Chayko, and Beatrix Christian, Dustfall is directed by Emma Freeman. The series follows detective Tig (Torv), who returns to her hometown of North Gap and uncovers a string of drink spiking assaults. The case takes a dramatic turn when one of the main suspects is murdered.
The cast includes Juliet Stevenson, Peter Fenton, Bert Labonte, Lila McGuire, Harry Gilchrist, Ling Cooper Tang, Gemma Chua-Tran, Alice Ansara, Zoe Phillips, Kate Box, Martin Sacks, Theo Haitana, Conrad Coleby, Ben Knight, Kirsty O’Connor, Jay Ryan, Ed Wightman, and Luke J Morgan.
Sue Deeks, Head of Scripted Pre-buy Acquisitions at the BBC, said: “Starring the magnificent Anna Torv, Dustfall is a powerful, emotionally charged crime drama that is as thought-provoking as it is compelling.”
Dustfall is a Soapbox Pictures and Moonriver co-production for ABC in association with the BBC, supported by Screen Australia and Screen Queensland. International sales are handled by Federation International.
