Motown legend Smokey Robinson, 85, was spotted enjoying a round of golf at the Sandpiper Golf Course in Santa Barbara on Tuesday, appearing carefree despite facing a $50 million sexual battery lawsuit. Exclusive photos show the singer in a bright red jacket emblazoned with 'JAMMIN', matching red-and-white golf shoes, and white pants.
Robinson loaded his own clubs into a golf cart, with a fellow golfer remarking, 'Smokey does great out there. He's got so much energy it's hard for the rest of us to keep up.' The singer has become a regular at the public course and has allegedly told others the accusations are 'a money grab'.
In May 2025, Robinson and his wife Frances were sued by four former employees alleging sexual assault, sexual battery, and labour violations, prompting a criminal investigation. The Robinsons countersued for $500 million, calling the claims 'vile' and 'false'.
The legal battle escalated in November 2025 when two new anonymous accusers joined the lawsuit, alleging Robinson tried to force them to touch his genitals. His attorney, Christopher Frost, denied the claims, calling them 'an organised, avaricious campaign'.
Despite the ongoing litigation, Robinson continues to perform across the US, with a Valentine's Day show scheduled at Thunder Bay Casino in Lincoln, California. The trial is set for October 2027.
