Corrie fans predict who saves Underworld for Carla - not Lisa

Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out who could save Underworld for Carla Connor-Swain, and it is not her wife, Lisa, despite some also thinking daughter Betsy Swain could come to the rescue.

Viewers of the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, are worried for the factory boss as she looks set to lose her livelihood. Carla, who first gained majority ownership of Underworld when her husband Paul Connor died in 2007, recently admitted her business was in decline but was doing all she could to keep things afloat, until the involvement of a dodgy Idris Nazir, who seems to be making things worse for her.

Idris sabotages Carla's deal

After a brief clash with Carla over car parking in an episode last week, Idris told girlfriend Leanne Battersby he had been eyeing up the business. During Monday's (November 2) visit to Weatherfield, Idris was seen overhearing Carla talking to Lisa about an important meeting at the hotel.

Later in the meeting, Carla and Michael Bailey were pleased with how things were going, but when the client headed to the loo, Idris stopped him. Idris told Carla's client that she could not be trusted and was not the sort of person he should do business with. His words seemed to work, as when the client returned to the table, Carla was taken aback by his new cautious attitude, and later she was told the deal was not going ahead. Afterwards, speaking to Lisa, Carla revealed she would have to sacrifice her workers' Christmas bonus to keep the factory afloat.

Factory sabotage and forced sale

In Tuesday's (November 3) episode, things go from bad to worse. After Carla decides to take control by breaking the news to the devastated staff that she is struggling, Idris meets up with Brody Michaelis at the rear of the factory and, handing him a lighter, tells him he has a job for him, which leads to Underworld and its orders becoming catastrophically damaged.

While it looks like Carla has a big decision to make, new spoilers for next week's episodes have already revealed she will be forced to sell her company, leaving Brody seemingly feeling guilty as it leaves his devastated foster carer, Sally Metcalfe, out of a job.

Fans share their predictions

While many Corrie fans think Brody coming clean about what Idris is up to may save the day, others think Carla could be thrown another lifeline from someone else close to home. When @Laceyjay99 said: "They better not make her hand over this fucking factory she’s held onto for 20 years to Idris," simplymrtv replied: "Brody will come through and who knows who else who gets involved or wants to blackmail or take him down in the meantime. Especially with Brody and Betsy building and down the line they’ll go from ‘enemies to family’ like we’ve seen with Lauren and others. But also remember she did have to hand it over several times, so she’ll always get it back, but I don’t even think they’ll get that far because it’s Idris."

@TheConnorSwains questioned: "Is Brody’s conscience gonna save the day? #Swarla #Corrie." @swarlaangel echoed: "I really hope Idris doesn’t get his hands on the factory and that Brody does the right thing #Swarla #Corrie." However, @luciferseve suggested: "Am I the only one who thinks Eva might be the one who invests or gets Underworld? Surely we need a twist and she’s it! #corrie." In response, @Jane69946890611 added: "Ooo, I didn't think of that, that would be interesting!"
