VisionQuest, the 18th instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is set to conclude after eight episodes on Disney+, with the finale airing on 10 November. Six episodes have been broadcast so far, following a double-episode premiere on 13 October, leaving just two instalments remaining.
The series follows the synthezoid Vision, portrayed by Paul Bettany, as he seeks to uncover his origins by connecting with AI personas embedded within his programming. The storyline has centred on a bounty placed on Vision's head, forcing him to flee with a mysterious teenager who may be his reincarnated son. The most recent episode brought audiences closer to identifying the Client, the enigmatic figure who recruited Paladin (Todd Stashwick) to pursue Vision.
Episode Schedule and Finale Details
Episode seven, titled Immolation, will air on 3 November, followed by the finale, titled Forever, on 10 November. At present, there is no indication that the series will return for a second run.
Creator Terry Matalas has discussed the possibility of a second series. When asked whether the show stands on its own as the conclusion of the WandaVision trilogy, he responded: "I think that's up to the Marvel and Disney Gods. It doesn't necessarily have to [stand on its own]. There is a group of characters in situations that are certainly on their own island, if you will. Trying to figure out how to say this... You could very much see these characters again, if you want."
Critical Reception and Viewer Response
Marvel Television chief Brad Winderbaum has not mentioned VisionQuest among productions potentially set to return, suggesting the series may be a one-off that serves as Season 3 of the WandaVision saga. Instead, it appears more likely that key characters such as Wanda Maximoff, Vision, and their sons Billy and Tommy could spin off into other projects.
The series holds a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising its exploration of humanity beneath the robot. One IMDb reviewer wrote: "I'm really enjoying VisionQuest so far! The first four episodes have been great, and I'm excited to see where the story goes next. But honestly, James Spader as Ultron is easily the highlight of the show. His acting is incredible, and he absolutely steals every scene he's in. The way he brings Ultron's personality to life with his voice, delivery, and sarcasm is just so good. He's easily the best part of the show for me. Overall, I'm really liking VisionQuest so far, and I can't wait to see how the rest of the series turns out!"
VisionQuest streams weekly on Disney+.
