The Disney+ series VisionQuest is nearing its conclusion, with only two episodes remaining. Episode seven, titled Immolation, is set to air on 3 November, and the finale, titled Forever, will follow a week later on 10 November. The series totals eight episodes, with six having aired to date.
The WandaVision spin-off debuted on 13 October with its opening two episodes. It follows the synthezoid Vision as he tries to uncover his origins by communicating with AI personas embedded within his programming. A bounty placed on Vision's head has forced him to flee with a teenager who may be his reincarnated son.
Mystery of the Client Remains
The latest episode brought viewers closer to discovering the identity of the Client, the shadowy figure who hired Paladin (Todd Stashwick) to pursue him. As things stand, there is no indication that the show will be renewed for a second series.
Creator Terry Matalas has spoken about the possibility of a second series. When asked whether the show stands on its own, Matalas responded: "I think that's up to the Marvel and Disney Gods. It doesn't necessarily have to [stand on its own]. There is a group of characters in situations that are certainly on their own island, if you will. Trying to figure out how to say this... You could very much see these characters again, if you want."
Future of the Franchise
Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum has yet to name VisionQuest amongst the productions potentially set for a comeback. It seems more likely that fans will see key characters such as Wanda Maximoff and Vision, as well as their sons Billy and Tommy, spin off into other projects.
The series has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91%, with the critics' consensus stating: "Picking up where WandaVision left off, this series investigates the humanity beneath the robot, where the artificial becomes reality with heart, deliberate emotion, and a clear-eyed VisionQuest."
Viewers have shared their verdicts on IMDb, with one writing: "I am really enjoying it so far. I love how they've done this new Vision and how they have designed his AIs and their relationships within his digital intelligent world."
VisionQuest streams weekly on Disney+.
