Liverpool ratings: Nyoni shines in Fenerbahce loss

Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the Champions League campaign as Fenerbahce won 3-2 at Chobani Stadium in Istanbul. Trey Nyoni gave the visitors the lead, but the hosts responded before the break when Mason Greenwood's free-kick deflected off Jeremy Jacquet to wrong-foot Alisson Becker. Alexander Isak made it 2-1 with his first touch off the bench, but the Reds collapsed as Archie Brown and Vedat Muriqi inspired a comeback.

First Half: Nyoni's Strike and a Deflected Equaliser

Trey Nyoni opened the scoring with a volley, marking the first goal of his senior career. However, Fenerbahce equalised before half-time through a deflected free-kick. Alisson Becker was wrong-footed and was furious with Jacquet, who turned his back on the shot.

Second Half: Isak Scores but Liverpool Collapse

Alexander Isak scored goal No.7 of his campaign with what might have been his first touch after coming on as a substitute. Despite taking the lead, Liverpool conceded twice more as Archie Brown and Vedat Muriqi completed the turnaround. Andoni Iraola's side remain on nine points from four matches in the revamped European Cup.

Player Ratings

ALISSON BECKER - 6: Wrong-footed for the deflected equaliser and was furious with Jacquet. Could perhaps have done better with the second goal. Went up for a corner late on in a desperate attempt to score.

JOE GOMEZ - 6: Cross for Bradley Barcola after 20 minutes deserved a finish. Got forward as often as he could and was solid defensively at right-back. Withdrawn shortly after the hour mark.

JEREMY JACQUET - 5: Will consider himself unfortunate for the equaliser but goalkeeper Alisson was furious with the turned back. Struggled to get to grips with Romelu Lukaku at times.

VIRGIL VAN DIJK - 5: Knew he was in a battle against Lukaku but largely stood up to the test one on one, though he was part of a defensive collapse in the second half.

KOSTAS TSIMIKAS - 4: Struggled all game against Mason Greenwood before being replaced by Milos Kerkez. A tough night for the Greece international.

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER - 6: Always looked to get Liverpool moving forward with his passes but his influence waned as the game wore on.

TREY NYONI - 8: An excellent outing for the 19-year-old individually. So intelligent with his movement and choices of passes. His volley to open the scoring was a wonderful moment. Best player on the park before he was taken off.

VICTOR MUNOZ - 6: Scuffed an early chance badly but was always a willing runner out wide on the right. Went close in the second half with a shot that was cleared.

DOMINIK SZOBOSZLAI - 5: Unable to influence things as the most advanced midfielder after a recent hamstring injury. Moved to right-back for the final 25 minutes but still struggled.

RIO NGUMOHA - 7: Wasn't intimidated by the atmosphere and was always determined to dribble at the opposition. Had them scared at times. Withdrawn as one of three subs and his drive was missed.

BRADLEY BARCOLA - 4: Virtually anonymous in that centre-forward role that is unfamiliar to him. Glanced one header wide. Moved wide with 25 minutes to go but still struggled.

Substitutes

CODY GAKPO - 6: Almost instant assist for Isak but also had a hand in Fenerbahce's second with his failed attempt to clear.

FLORIAN WIRTZ - 5: Showed some nice touches when he arrived and wasn't responsible for the defensive collapse. Unable to inspire a comeback.

ALEXANDER ISAK - 6: Scored goal No.7 of his campaign with what might have been his first touch. Largely uninvolved after that.

MILOS KERKEZ - 5: Crosses were too easily cleared as Liverpool searched for a way back into the game. Question marks remain over the £40m left-back.

LEWIS KOUMAS - 6: Arrived late to try and salvage things but was unable to make a telling impact. Unfair to ask him to be the difference maker.
