ITV has confirmed the return of the classic darts-themed gameshow Bullseye, with former cricketer Freddie Flintoff as host. The show will air on Sunday, November 9 on ITV1 and ITVX, following a successful Christmas special last year that drew over 8.6 million viewers.
The revival will follow the original format, featuring teams of an amateur dart player, the 'thrower', and a partner, the 'knower'. They combine darts skills with answering questions to win points and prizes. Three teams compete, with the final pair risking their winnings for 'Bully's Mystery Star Prize', often a car or holiday.
Freddie Flintoff will host alongside scorer Richard Ashdown and guest darts professionals. Flintoff expressed his excitement, saying, "I love the darts and Bullseye was one of my favourite shows as a kid. I was really pleased people seemed to like the Christmas special and so now I’m thrilled I get to host the series. You can’t beat a bit of Bully!"
The Christmas special last year saw over 30,000 applications and topped ITV's ratings, outperforming shows like The Chase and The 1% Club. Bullseye originally aired from 1982 to 1995 hosted by Jim Bowen, with a previous revival attempt on Challenge TV in 2006.
