The owners of a coffee shop in Bolton said they had a 'very exciting day' as production on a new TV show starring Michelle Keegan took place outside their spot.
The Coffee Van has been situated on Walker Fold Car Park since about 2016. Located right by the Smithills Estate, which is run by the Woodland Trust, the vintage horsebox cafe is popular with dog-walkers and those wanting to see stunning views of Winter Hill.
Netflix crew takes over the car park
But this week, the café was instead welcomed by a host of celebrities and names in the TV world as the cast and crew of the upcoming Netflix thriller The Woods have been filming nearby.
The series, which is an adaptation of the Harlan Coben novel, has already been filming for the last couple of months across the likes of Liverpool and Knutsford. Filming has also taken place in Bolton's Le Mans Crescent and The Midland hotel in the city centre.
Cast and crew visit
The cast for the eight-part series is led by Tom Bateman, who will play a barrister whose sister vanished from a summer camp 20 years ago. The cast also features Stockport actress Michelle Keegan, who has previously appeared in Coronation Street, Our Girl and Fool Me Once.
The pair of actors posed for photos outside The Coffee Van this week during a break from filming, with the owners of the cafe sharing on social media: "Well… what a day.
"We had a VERY exciting day today as a Netflix crew took over the car park and we had the pleasure of keeping the cast and crew fueled with coffees & food. We even got to meet @michkeegan & Tom Bateman, who were both honestly so lovely. Safe to say today is one we won't forget."
Social media reaction
Responding to the post, one follower said: "Netflix obvz know the best coffee spot in Bolton!!" Another said: "This is amazing guys!!!!" One other wrote: "Bus tours to Coffee Box next. You're on the map."
Michelle also shared a post of the Coffee Van on her own Instagram account, where she has over seven million followers. The Woods, which is from the same production company as shows like Tip Toe and After The Flood, will also star James Buckley, Mandeep Dhillon and Pearce Quigley.
Previously speaking about the show, lead actor Bateman said: "Harlan Coben's shows are always such gripping events, so the opportunity to be part of his world is really exciting.
"The worlds are so rich and interesting to play as an actor because they deal with ghosts and secrets, and they pull the characters into the most unexpected places. I cannot wait to go on the journey with the audience, step by step, as the buried secrets of the story come to light."
A release date for The Woods has not yet been announced.
