The BBC has released a new trailer for the second series of its hit sitcom Amandaland, alongside confirming the premiere date. The Motherland spin-off stars Lucy Punch as Amanda Hughes, a single mother of two teenagers who relocates to a less affluent part of London after her divorce.
The series, which holds an 85% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, will return on Wednesday, 6 May at 9pm on BBC One. The logline for the new season states: 'Amanda is still living in Soha and still juggling teenagers, her online Senuous brand and her co-lab. But while she’s resigned to staying put, she has big plans to upscale.'
Returning cast members include Joanna Lumley, Philippa Dunne, Siobhán McSweeney, Samuel Anderson, Robbie Gee, Ekow Quartey and Rochenda Sandall. Dunne, who plays Amanda's best friend Anne Flynn, spoke about reprising her role: 'Obviously there's a big responsibility... We didn't want to make a mess of it or ruin the reputation of [Motherland]. But we're just really delighted, blown away [and] so happy that people not only like it, but love it.'
Dunne also praised co-star Lucy Punch: 'She's one of my favourite people I've ever worked with, ever. I loved her the minute I met her, I still love her now! I love Anne and Amanda. The joy of the job is getting to play characters like that side by side.'
