Apple TV's new thriller series Nocturne is being hailed as the "most gripping show of the year," with viewers praising its cast and saying they struggled to switch it off. The 2026 series stars Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham.

Film and television reviewer EccyReviews, who watches and rates films and TV shows on his social media platforms, described the show as "genuinely unmissable," adding that viewers will "regret not watching it." He has seen the first two episodes and said he is "absolutely gripped" by the story, which follows children who go missing. After one of them reappears following years in captivity, the investigation reopens and retired detectives return to the case.

The Biggest Show of the Year

Explaining his recommendation, EccyReviews said: "It is going to be the biggest show of the year, and everyone's going to be talking about it. The show that I'm talking about is called Nocturne. Now, this is the serial killer drama starring Stephen Graham, and it's available on Apple TV."

He added: "I've seen the first two episodes, and I am absolutely gripped as this follows these children who go missing. And after one of them shows up, after being kept years in captivity in the dark, the investigation reopens. Cops come out of retirement to investigate what is going on, and people are dead set that it is Stephen Graham, even though he is kept very tight in this prison."

The reviewer continued: "Now, there is so many storylines going on, there is so many secrets, and I know it's going to be absolutely full of twists and turns at every single corner. I have absolutely loved it so far, and that's why you have to go and check it out immediately."

On IMDb, one user wrote: "Stephen performance it's brilliant, and Zazie Beetz she's killing it. This series is really smart, mysterious, serious and feels a little bit of horror into it. Sound like a True Detective season one again. I haven't seen Ray Donovan for a while now but I think he fits well into a cop."

The user added: "The whole cast it's brilliant and the camera it's great too. I've been waiting for a while for this type of mystery, thriller, crime and I have not seen nothing for years. Well done."

Another said: "Perfect. Nocturne is a gripping and atmospheric crime thriller that pulls you in from the very beginning. The dark tone, strong performances, and constant sense of tension make it incredibly binge-worthy. If you're into psychological thrillers and serial-killer stories, this one is definitely worth watching."

The show's IMDb description reads: "When a victim of serial killer Jurek Walter turns up alive, detective Jonah Lynn races to find the one person still missing, while his protégé Saga Bauer goes undercover for answers from the killer himself. Based on the bestselling novel by Lars Kepler." Nocturne is available to watch on Apple TV and Amazon.
