MGM+ has renewed its series 'Robin Hood' for a second season, which will be expanded beyond the first. The show, produced by Lionsgate Television and created by John Glenn, has been described by the studio as 'one of MGM+'s all-time best first-season performers.'
The second season will broaden the story beyond Sherwood and Nottingham, venturing into the courts of England, France, and Rome. The outlaw rebellion becomes a high-stakes battle for the soul of a kingdom as the Angevin empire threatens to collapse. Rob and Marian are drawn into the orbit of kings and queens, forced to use Norman power to secure a future for the Saxons.
Jack Patten and Lauren McQueen reprise their roles as the leads, with Sean Bean returning as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Lydia Peckham, Steven Waddington, and Connie Nielsen also star. Casting for new roles in season two will be announced shortly.
Michael Wright, global head of MGM+, said: 'Robin Hood quickly became one of our top-performing original series of all time, and the response from our audiences both in the U.S. and abroad has been exceptional. We’re thrilled to continue this epic adventure for a second season.'
The series is available on MGM+ in the US and in the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Belgium, and the Netherlands. John Glenn serves as showrunner and executive producer, alongside executive producer and director Jonathan English and executive producer Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures.
