At the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, French-Russian actress Anastasia Andrushkevich paid tribute to Princess Diana by recreating one of her most memorable red carpet looks. The actress wore a flowing baby blue gown inspired by Diana's iconic Catherine Walker dress from the 1987 festival.
The ethereal floor-length design, created by designer Mehmet Ozden, featured a softly draped strapless bodice and delicate chiffon layers, along with a matching scarf-style stole. Anastasia completed the look with sparkling silver drop earrings and a voluminous blonde bob reminiscent of Diana's signature 1980s hairstyle.
Diana originally wore the pale blue Catherine Walker chiffon gown to the 1987 Cannes Film Festival alongside then-Prince King Charles III. The dress later became even more iconic after she wore it to a performance of Miss Saigon in 1989 and for a portrait sitting with photographer Terence Donovan. It sold at auction for $137,500.
Diana's collaboration with British fashion house Catherine Walker & Co. was a defining royal style partnership. Cyrus, who co-founded the label with his late wife Catherine Walker, recalled working with Diana, saying they saw their job as giving her the tools of her trade. He praised her politeness and professionalism, noting she was never late for appointments.
