Sarah Ferguson off-grid and could be heading to Australia

Sarah Ferguson, 66, has gone off the radar since leaving Royal Lodge, and while a spotlight remains on her former husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Sarah's whereabouts and plans remain fairly unknown. It's reported that the 66-year-old is renting a gated property in the Home Counties. However, the former Duchess of York could escape thousands of miles away.

A possible escape to Australia

Fergie's sister, Jane Ferguson Luecdecke, lives in Australia, and could be the key a route to escape for her. Not much is known about Jane besides that she lives in Lake Tuggerah, New South Wales. As reported in Hello Magazine, it is believed that Jane lives with her partner Ramin Marzbani, and is a businesswoman selling pet products.

A new life on the other side of the world could be the very thing Sarah needs to get away from the Andrew drama, which most recently involved King Charles handing his younger brother £1.3m to cover his Royal Lodge bill. Fergie also lost her title in late October 2025, and was stripped off her Freedom of the City of York one earlier this year, due to her association with Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein files revelations

Revelations from the Epstein files uncovered Fergie's close relationship with the convicted paedophile. They showed that she maintained a close relationship with Epstein despite publicly condemning him in March 2011. Emails emerged showing Fergie apologise to Epstein and describe him as "a steadfast, generous and supreme friend to me and my family". However, when the shocking news was made public, her spokesperson said she was "taken in by his lies" and that she had sent the email only to avoid the threat of defamation.

Fergie said in March 2011: "I personally, on behalf of myself, deeply regret that Jeffrey Epstein became involved in any way with me. I abhor paedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf. I am just so contrite I cannot say. Whenever I can, I will repay the money and have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again."

Spokesperson statement and consequences

A spokesperson for Ms Ferguson said last year: "The Duchess spoke of her regret about her association with Epstein many years ago, and as they have always been, her first thoughts are with his victims. Like many people, she was taken in by his lies. As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with paedophilia. She does not resile from anything she said then. This email was sent in the context of advice the Duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats."

Fergie was stripped of her title last year and forced to vacate her home in Windsor, Royal Lodge, following the latest developments in her association with Epstein.
