Prince William and Kate's Strict Parenting: No Shouting, No iPads for Royal Children

The Prince and Princess of Wales have adopted a strict 'no shouting' rule at home, according to reports. The parenting approach, influenced by their Norland nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, emphasises emotional understanding over discipline.

Norland-trained nanny Sarah Carpenter told Netmums that raising one's voice around children is 'completely banned' among elite childcare professionals. 'It does not allow children to feel empowered or supported,' she explained.

Instead of a traditional 'naughty step', the Waleses use a 'chat sofa' – a calming space where feelings and behaviour are discussed gently. The rule applies to both parents and children, meaning no one is allowed to shout.

Norland nannies also avoid using the word 'silly' unless in a lighthearted context, and focus criticism on the action, not the child. The Waleses' nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, has been with the family since 2014 and is trained in everything from defensive driving to caring for a future monarch.
