Kensington Palace has announced that Prince George will attend Eton College in the autumn, providing a fresh boost for Prince William and Kate after the bombshell news. The Prince and Princess of Wales confirmed that their eldest child will join the elite school this September, a move that was widely anticipated given Prince William's own education at Eton between 1995 and 2000.
Official Confirmation
A spokesman for the couple stated: "Kensington Palace can confirm that Prince George will attend Eton College from this September." Prince William is said to be "thrilled" that his son will follow in his footsteps at the prestigious institution.
Public Opinion Poll
The Daily Express conducted a poll asking readers whether the couple made the right decision. A total of 4,663 votes were cast between Tuesday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 17. An overwhelming 3,567 readers expressed support, while 707 disagreed and 389 were unsure.
One commenter wrote: "Yes, it's their son and his school is important to him and them. I'm pretty certain every one of us would choose the school we wanted for our children, paid or otherwise." Another added: "George is clearly an intelligent boy. He will be happy at Eton, and I feel he will not only 'do well' there, but he will also EXCEL there."
Tradition and Costs
Prince George's first day is expected to be documented with a traditional photograph of him signing the school's Entrance Book alongside his parents. Fees are set at £21,099.60 per term, totaling £63,298.80 per year.
While King Charles attended Gordonstoun School in Scotland, Prince William's education was influenced by his mother's family. Diana, Princess of Wales' father and brother both studied at Eton.
