Piers Morgan Slams Harry and Meghan's Return as Outrageous

Piers Morgan has lashed out at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after it was announced the couple will embark on their first joint engagement since returning to the UK. The Sussexes moved back to the UK at the end of August after spending six years in America, following their decision to step down as working royals in 2020.

Shortly after they returned, a letter sent on behalf of King Charles confirmed that there had been no change to their roles within the Royal Family, and they would remain non-working royals. It also said they should be referred to as "private citizens".

First Joint Appearance in Nottingham

It has now been revealed that Harry, 42, and Meghan, 45, will visit Nottingham together, the very place they made their first joint public appearance after announcing their engagement in 2017.

Piers, 61, has described the latest development as "outrageous" and suggested working members of the Royal Family will be "furious" about it.

"It’s actually outrageous that these two are now running a rival royal family operation in the UK, purely for personal gain," he wrote on X. "Can’t even imagine how furious the working Royals, doing their selfless duty day in, day out, must feel about it."

Presenter's Previous Criticism

This isn't the first time the former Good Morning Britain presenter has commented on the matter. In response to a post by People which said the couple are set for their first joint outing since returning to Britain, Piers fumed: "They’re not doing anything ‘official’ - they’re a pair of unofficial grifters exploiting their royal titles in the most shameless manner."

During their visit, the Sussexes are expected to attend an acting workshop at CRS Nottingham before cooking with the women of the Grenfell Hubb Community Kitchen at a food bank. They're also reportedly planning to meet Epic Partners, which supports young people in sport.

"Nottingham is a really special place for them and they are looking forward to getting back out there into the community, together," a friend of the couple told The Times.

New Titles and Family Life

The publication also claimed the appearance comes as they "double down" on positioning themselves with new titles as "public figures" as opposed to "private citizens". Harry and Meghan are currently residing in the Cotswolds with their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five.

Speaking to Canadian network CTV, Harry said that things had been going "great" for the family since they returned, adding that Archie and Lilibet are happy in school. "The kids are happy in school and it gives me a chance to really focus on Invictus in Birmingham. The games are in July next year."

Of his return, Harry added: "It’s been great. It’s been great to be back on British soil."
