BBC viewers have been left devastated after tuning into the latest episode of Celebrity Traitors, with mounting concerns that one star could face wrongful elimination after effectively plunging themselves into the firing line.
Once more, Claudia Winkleman ushered 21 renowned personalities into the legendary Scottish fortress earlier this month, including Ross Kemp, Bella Ramsey, and Michael Sheen, in what has emerged as one of television's most compelling series.
Richard E Grant's historic banishment
History was already written when actor Richard E Grant became the inaugural Traitor to face banishment during the opening round table, with the most recent episode also witnessing Faithful Julie Hesmondhalgh bidding her farewells.
In what has evolved into a nail-biting contest, however, with the Traitors engaging in a web of deception and betrayal, viewers confessed to feeling devastated over last week's instalment as they dread one celebrity's prospects on the programme.
James Blunt in the firing line
Certain viewers remain convinced that singer James Blunt might find himself in the firing line at the upcoming round table after he voiced doubts about Julie, who proved to be Faithful. Following Julie's elimination, Miranda confessed she was "so angry" she penned Julie's name as James acknowledged: "I'm so sorry, and that's my fault".
Doubts surrounding James then began to intensify as Sharon claimed he had been "stirring the pot" with his theories, declaring: "He's been wrong with every single theory he's come up with."
Speaking to cameras, James acknowledged there was a bullseye on his back after spearheading the "charge against someone who was our own" as he admitted feeling "so stupid."
Viewers react on social media
Taking to X, numerous viewers shared their thoughts, with some expressing genuine concern. One person said: "Sounds like James Blunt had a really big impact on the round table, bigger than the edit gave him credit for. Would've liked to see his full orchestration."
Another confessed: "Poor bloke hearing everyone being p***** off at him and going to sit all by himself after. I feel for him", while a third wrote: "Yeah I feel sorry for him too, I don't want everyone ganging up on him. They should take accountability for their own actions."
A fourth added: "My heart broke for James Blunt at the end lol Definitely had that feeling of going into the lunch hall with people talking s*** about you and ten sitting by yourself."
A fifth replied: "My daughter actually cried! She just felt so bad for him when he went in the doorway and then just left and sat on his own."
A sixth suggested it might have been down to the "editing" as one person predicted: "Most of the time when you see a Faithful do that they are gone within the next couple of episodes (sure that Hannah has some stats on that!)."
Reddit speculation
One Reddit user said they had "never wanted to hug someone more", while another penned: "I thought Hannah had snatched defeat from the jaws of victory when she jumped in to defend Julie. Interesting tactic."
It was also interesting to see the fallout. Despite being convinced that Hannah is a traitor, Miranda came out of the round table fuming at James Blunt for spearheading the Julie campaign.
"Could it be that they all turn on him before getting rid of Hannah? I mean a bunch of them voted for Jerry last time and dropped her completely this time."
Meanwhile, over on X, one viewer speculated that the next contestant to face the chop could actually be James rather than Hannah, despite widespread speculation. They added: "watch them banish James Blunt next instead of Hannah at this point lmao."
Celebrity Traitors continues on BBC One at 9pm on Thursday, October 15.
