Fans of BBC's hit reality show The Traitors are facing an agonising wait after the latest episode ended on a major cliffhanger. The series will not air for several days, leaving viewers desperate to uncover the identity of the mysterious new Secret Traitor.
When Does The Traitors Return?
The first three episodes of The Traitors season 4 have now been broadcast, with the show taking a break until next week. The action will resume on Wednesday, January 7, with episode 4 airing at the usual time of 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. This is when the fourth Traitor is expected to finally be unveiled.
The new season launched on New Year's Day (January 1), with host Claudia Winkleman welcoming 22 contestants to the Scottish castle. The initial line-up featured three known Traitors, one hidden Secret Traitor, and 18 Faithfuls. So far, Faithful Judy and Traitor Hugo have been banished, while Netty was murdered, leaving 15 players remaining in the game.
Full Season 4 Release Schedule
There will be a total of 12 episodes in this season. Following the current break, the show will return to its regular pattern of three episodes per week. Episodes 4, 5, and 6 will air next week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (January 7-9) at 8pm.
The pattern continues the following week with episodes 7, 8, and 9 airing on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The final trio of episodes, 10, 11, and the grand finale (episode 12), will follow the same schedule. The season climax is set for Friday, January 23, at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
The Hunt for the Secret Traitor
The Secret Traitor is a brand-new twist introduced this season. Claudia Winkleman revealed that this player's identity is concealed from everyone, including the other Traitors and the audience. Suspicion has fallen on several contestants, including former barrister Harriet, local government officer Fiona, psychologist Ellie, and Recruiter Roxy.
In the latest episode, the remaining Traitors, Stephen and Rachel, earned the right to unmask the Secret Traitor after completing a covert mission. Viewers saw the Secret Traitor walking towards the Traitors' tower, but the episode cut to black just as they arrived. This means the highly anticipated reveal is now scheduled for when the show returns on Wednesday, January 7, at 8pm.
