Selling Sunset Producers Hunt Huge Star to Replace Chrishell Stause After Exit
Selling Sunset hunts huge star to replace Chrishell Stause

Producers of the hit Netflix reality series Selling Sunset have launched a major search for a huge celebrity name to replace Chrishell Stause, following her decision to quit the show that made her famous.

The Celebrity Hunt Begins

An insider has revealed that the show's team is looking "high and low" for a magnetic personality to join the cast for the next season. In a significant shift from the show's original premise, producers do not require the new star to have a real estate licence or any prior experience in the property market.

A source told the Daily Mail: "They're looking high and low for a big celebrity to join next season. Producers don't even care if they've worked in real estate or not. If the person is a big enough name, they'll put you on the show without any real estate experience."

However, the chosen individual must be prepared to apply for their real estate licence and be keen to participate in property viewings. The publication also reports that Hollywood agents have been contacted, though no names have yet come forward.

Chrishell Stause's Shock Departure

This casting scramble comes after Chrishell Stause, 44, who first joined the show in 2019, announced she was leaving. In an interview with Bustle, she cited the show's impact on her mental health as the primary reason for her departure.

"I've gotten to a place where I don't need the show financially," Stause explained. "I'm lucky to have other forms of employment, because it's no longer good for my mental health."

She expressed gratitude for the opportunities the show provided but admitted she was leaving "not in the way that I would've loved." Stause also revealed that show creator Adam DiVello persistently contacted her in an attempt to change her mind.

Behind-the-Scenes Tensions and a New Casting Strategy

Away from the cameras, it appears Stause was unhappy with how editors portrayed conflicts among the cast members. She suggested that working with "less problematic people" would have made for a different experience.

One of her most notable arguments was with co-star Emma Hernan regarding comments allegedly made by Hernan's boyfriend, Blake Davis. Chrishell claimed Davis made controversial statements, including that nonbinary is the same as a mental illness—a claim Davis has denied.

Looking forward, producers are hoping to replicate past successes with celebrity relatives, such as when Sofia Vergara's sister, Sandra, joined the cast. This strategy is now a key part of their plan to fill the void left by Stause's dramatic exit.
