Jeremy Clarkson confirms Richard Ham's fate on Farm

Jeremy Clarkson has confirmed the fate of fan-favourite pig Richard Ham on Clarkson's Farm, revealing that the beloved animal was spared from slaughter and remains at Diddly Squat Farm. The fifth season of the hit Prime Video series returned with its latest two episodes, and viewers were eager to learn what happened to one of the show's most cherished stars.

Difficult Decisions at Diddly Squat

In the current series, Clarkson and the entire Diddly Squat crew have faced numerous challenges, from Clarkson's own health struggles to difficult livestock situations. One devastating choice involved the future of his treasured pigs, which ultimately had to leave the farm permanently due to financial unsustainability.

Episode five showed Clarkson and his partner Lisa Hogan still grieving the departure of their pigs, which had failed to produce enough meat to remain viable. However, Clarkson revealed a delightful surprise when he disclosed the whereabouts of Richard Ham, the piglet named after his friend and co-star Richard Hammond.

A Mighty Pig

While clearing the former pig enclosure, Clarkson remarked: "It's been years and years and years and every time you come down here, they all come running along to see you, and now look." Appearing visibly melancholy, he continued: "Mind you, that being said, it's not completely empty though, is it? Because look who's here. Ladies and gentlemen, Richard Ham."

He gestured towards the pig, who had grown considerably since his last appearance. "Look how he has grown!" Jeremy exclaimed. "He has become a mighty pig, a huge pig."

Why Richard Ham Stayed

Clarkson explained to viewers: "We've kept him. We had to. The problem we've got though, is he can't be a fluffer any more because there's no more pigs to fluff. We can't eat him, because we just can't, and we can't breed from him because there's something genetically wrong with him. So we have just got him."

Since farmers are not advised to keep pigs in isolation, they acquired another male pig as a companion for Richard Ham, playfully christened 'James Boar' after James May, the final member of The Grand Tour trio.

Fan Favourite

Richard Ham emerged as a firm fan-favourite during season four of Clarkson's Farm, with audiences charmed by his adorable nature. Fans will be thrilled to learn the pig has been spared from slaughter due to the Diddly Squat team's strong emotional bond with him.

Clarkson's Farm season 5 is available on Prime Video.
