Rob Reiner's Children Jake and Romy Lean on 'Strong Bond' After Parents' Brutal Murder
Reiner siblings find solace in each other after parents' murder

The children of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele are finding strength in each other following the horrific deaths of their parents, which their brother stands accused of committing.

A Family Shattered by Tragedy

Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles mansion earlier this month, victims of what authorities have described as a brutal attack. The official cause of death was listed as murder resulting from "multiple sharp force injuries," with reports indicating their throats were cut.

The couple's son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with their murders and is currently being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. It is reported that Nick, who has a long history of substance abuse and has been to rehab at least 18 times, is also receiving treatment for schizophrenia.

Siblings United in Grief

In the devastating aftermath, the couple's two other children, Jake, 34, and Romy, 28, are leaning heavily on one another. A close family friend told PEOPLE magazine that the pair's lifelong "strong bond" has become a crucial source of support during this unimaginable time.

"This nightmare isn't even over for Romy and Jake," the source revealed, referencing the upcoming murder trial. "There is a lot more to be done, but they’ve been surrounded by loved ones and support in all forms, and that will continue."

The tragedy unfolded after an argument at a party hosted by chat show host Conan O'Brien, which Nick attended with his parents. It is believed Romy later discovered her parents' bodies after a masseuse, booked for an appointment, found no answer at the door. Romy is said to have "raised the alarm" with the police.

Seeking Normalcy Amid the Pain

In a desperate attempt to cope and avoid succumbing to depression, Jake and Romy have been trying to maintain some routine. The source explained they have been going for walks and running errands, though everything remains "all still so new and overwhelming."

The siblings released a joint heart-wrenching statement soon after their parents' deaths, describing an "unimaginable pain" and calling Rob and Michele their "best friends." They expressed gratitude for the public support but pleaded for privacy, asking for "speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity."

Nick Reiner's defence attorney, Alan Jackson, told TMZ that his client's court appearances have been delayed due to a need for medical clearance, calling it a "procedural issue." As the legal process begins, Jake and Romy, supported by Hollywood friends like actor Billy Crystal, focus on remembering their parents' incredible lives while navigating a future forever altered.
