Television presenter Maya Jama and her boyfriend, Manchester City defender Ruben Dias, have made their first public appearance together since the devastating burglary at their £4 million Cheshire home. The couple, who were left "devastated" after thieves ransacked their mansion in January, were seen stepping out in Cheshire on Monday, shortly after manager Pep Guardiola granted the players a day off ahead of a Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
Couple Steps Out with Umorous Umbrella
During their outing, Ruben Dias was spotted carrying an umbrella adorned with the words "F**cking Rain," which appeared to amuse Maya Jama. He used it to shield himself from the elements, leaving his girlfriend to brave the weather on her own. This lighthearted moment suggests the couple is attempting to move forward from the traumatic incident, which occurred while Ruben was playing an away game against Turkish team Galatasaray and Maya was in South Africa filming Love Island: All Stars.
Burglary Details and Security Upgrades
The burglars reportedly stole thousands of pounds worth of items, including designer clothes, jewellery, and electronics. The couple had only recently moved into the Omaze prize-draw mansion, which costs approximately £20,000 per month to rent. In response to the attack, they have decided to enhance security by hiring a Strongbox 24-hour security team to live on the property, despite already having state-of-the-art security systems installed.
A source revealed, "The couple asked a security firm to come in and assess the property, and the suggestion was that having live-in, round-the-clock guards would act as a great deterrent. Many footballers now include security guards alongside private fitness coaches and chefs." Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Maya Jama and Ruben Dias for further comment.
Emotional Impact and Police Investigation
On the day of the targeted attack, Ruben Dias raised the alarm after returning home from the away game and discovering the house had been turned upside down, with valuable items missing. A source explained at the time, "They are devastated; this house is the first they have moved into as a couple and is very special to them. Thankfully, neither was at home, but they are very upset that their personal space has been invaded."
The source added, "Maya was very proud to move into her first home with Ruben and took lots of videos and pictures while in the house, which she posted on her social media. Previously in their relationship, she was back and forth from London, and he was living in a city centre flat. That’s why this property means so much to them."
Cheshire Police confirmed the incident, stating, "Shortly after 11.10pm on Wednesday 28 January, police received reports of a burglary at an address in Woodbrook Road, Alderley Edge. Officers attended and found entry had been made to the property, and a number of items had been stolen. Enquiries are currently ongoing."
Property Background and Features
The ultra-modern property, which the couple were spotted viewing back in November, is a 6,300 sq ft four-bedroom home won by mother Emily Ward through a £25 Omaze prize-draw ticket. She remains listed as the property owner. The mansion boasts panoramic views, landscaped gardens, a luxury indoor leisure suite, and a sophisticated security system. It is reportedly available for rent at around £20,000 per month and is also on the market for sale.
