Comedian Jayde Adams Horrified by Camera Incident at Her Bedroom Window
Jayde Adams Shocked by Camera Incident at Bedroom Window

Comedian and actress Jayde Adams has spoken out about a deeply unsettling experience that left her feeling violated and horrified. The 41-year-old performer revealed she discovered a man using a camera on a stick to take pictures outside her second-floor bedroom window while she was inside with the curtains open.

A Shocking Discovery

Adams recounted the incident in detail on her Instagram account, describing how she was in her bedroom when she suddenly noticed a silver digital camera attached to a stick being held up outside her window. Despite being on the second floor where she believed no one could see in, the presence of the camera immediately alarmed her.

"How would you feel? I'm in my bedroom. Curtains open. But it's the second floor and no one can see in," Adams wrote. "And all of a sudden I see a stick with a silver digital camera on the end. I opened the window and there was an old man below holding the stick up outside."

Confrontation and Confusion

What made the situation particularly disturbing for Adams was the man's reaction when she confronted him. She described him as seeming completely unaware why a woman in her bedroom might be shocked to see a camera being pushed toward her window on a stick.

"When I asked what he was doing he acted like I was in the wrong? Annoyed that I had even questioned it and told me to call the police if I wanted to," Adams revealed. She added, "This isn't normal, right? Or did I miss something?"

Possible Connection to Neighbors

In a follow-up Q&A session with her Instagram followers, Adams was asked if she had seen the man again. She responded that he hasn't returned, but she now believes he may have some connection to her next-door neighbors.

"He hasn't been back, I think he's to do with next door but they need to like, tell me," she explained, expressing frustration about the lack of communication regarding the incident.

Adams' Public Profile and Resilience

The incident comes as Adams continues to navigate life in the public eye following her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022. During that season, she made history as part of a same-sex pairing with professional dancer Karen Hauer, bringing increased attention to her career.

Adams has previously demonstrated remarkable resilience in dealing with public scrutiny. Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, she discussed how she handles comments from internet trolls, particularly those focused on her weight.

"I knew it was going to happen to me because every time I'm on TV someone comments on my weight, I just knew it was going to happen," Adams said. "I could do one of two things, I could ignore it, or I could tackle it. I found it funny, I could show people who follow me some resilience."

Turning Criticism into Strength

Adams shared a specific example of how she handles negative comments, recalling one troll who wrote, "this is Jayde Adams rocking up to Strictly," accompanied by a picture of the Michelin Man.

"I laughed!" Adams revealed. "I don't want people to say stuff like that but these people want to have a reaction. The most useful thing to do is to not get at them, it's to show resilience because it's never going to stop."

The recent camera incident represents a different kind of intrusion for Adams, moving beyond online comments to a physical violation of her private space. Her decision to speak publicly about the experience highlights ongoing concerns about privacy and personal security for public figures and private citizens alike.
