Tinder's 'Most Right-Swiped Man' Reveals 14-Year Wig Secret Before £5k Hair Transplant
Stefan-Pierre Tomlin, the man famously dubbed 'Mr Tinder' after receiving a staggering 14,600 right swipes on the dating app, has disclosed that he secretly wore wigs for 14 years to conceal his receding hairline. The 35-year-old London-based model, who has walked runways for Burberry, finally underwent a £5,000 hair transplant in January 2026 after years of hiding his hair loss from friends, dates, and even television producers.
The Secret Behind the Swipes
Tomlin first downloaded Tinder in June 2015 and quickly became hooked, spending an average of more than three hours daily swiping through potential matches. Behind his confident persona, however, lay a deep-seated insecurity. Like many men, he had struggled with hair loss since his early twenties, admitting he 'never showed' anyone his real hair for over a decade. Instead, he relied on wigs, hair fibres, and caps to disguise his receding hairline.
The problem began at age 21 when Tomlin noticed his hair thinning while preparing for a night out. 'It was one of the worst things that could happen to me,' he recalled. 'I looked in the mirror and realised my hairline was going. I immediately rushed into my mum's make-up bag and grabbed a brown eyeliner pen to draw on a new hairline. It was a new low.' For three years, he used eyeliner daily before switching to hair-building fibres as the condition worsened.
A Costly Concealment
Tomlin's efforts to hide his hair loss were not only emotionally draining but financially significant. The products cost around £30 per tube, and he eventually spent more than £3,000 annually on wigs and maintenance. During this period, he appeared on TV shows like Celebs Go Dating and Written In The Stars, all while continuing the deception. He was also secretly using fibres when he joined Tinder in 2015, embarking on a nine-year stint that saw him date over 50 women and receive more than 48,000 likes.
'It was incredibly difficult hiding it from people,' Tomlin confessed. 'I never had the confidence to show anyone.' The lengths he went to were extreme; on one occasion, he lied during a TV shoot for Love Island, claiming he couldn't swim to avoid jumping into a pool and ruining his hair fibres. Even on dates, he avoided any discussion of hair, dodging women's attempts to touch his head and wearing durags to bed overnight to prevent them from seeing his real hair.
A Turning Point and Transformation
The secret finally came to light after Tomlin met his partner, Vicki Batsford, 44, in October 2024. Six months into their relationship, he felt comfortable enough to reveal the truth. 'I couldn't keep the act up forever,' he said. 'Vicki made me feel trusted and safe. When I explained everything, she said she loved me for who I was.' However, by then, his hairline had continued to recede, prompting him to seek a permanent solution.
In January 2026, Tomlin booked a hair transplant procedure at the British Hair Clinic, costing £5,000. Now just over a week into recovery, he says the surgery has transformed his confidence. 'My confidence has gone through the roof,' he declared. 'Even though recovery takes about two weeks, I already look completely normal. Hair has always been incredibly important to me - probably like it is for most men. Hiding this secret for years consumed me. But now I can finally talk about it and know it's in the past. I feel ready to step back out on the runway again.'
Tomlin's story highlights the profound impact of hair loss on self-esteem, even for those in the public eye, and underscores the relief that can come with addressing such insecurities head-on.
