Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood is set to deliver a rare solo performance in London this summer, marking his first full live solo concerts in more than 16 years. The iconic guitarist, aged 78, will take the stage at the intimate O2 Kentish Town Forum on 21 August, accompanied by close friend and acclaimed singer-songwriter Imelda May.
Excitement Builds for Historic Solo Return
Wood expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming show, stating: "I’m looking forward to kickin’ ass with my back catalogue and some new songs – look out London!!" This announcement comes after high demand for his solo appearances, which initially led to an extra date in Amsterdam. He has now confirmed two additional concerts: the London gig and a performance at Cologne’s E-Werk on 3 September.
A Storied Career Beyond The Rolling Stones
Before his legendary tenure with The Rolling Stones, Wood was a pivotal member of the rock band Faces, known for hits like “Stay With Me” alongside Rod Stewart. The duo recently reunited on stage last year when Wood joined Sir Rod during his Glastonbury set. Wood’s contributions extend to classic tracks such as Faces’ “Ooh La La” and The Rolling Stones’ “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll”.
His enduring impact on music has been honoured with two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – first with The Rolling Stones in 1989, and again with Faces in 2012.
Rolling Stones Continue Studio Work
Meanwhile, The Rolling Stones are reportedly back in the studio crafting a new album, following the successful release of their 2023 record, Hackney Diamonds. Produced by Grammy-winner Andrew Watt, whose credits include works by Elton John, Pearl Jam, Ozzy Osbourne, and Lady Gaga, Hackney Diamonds debuted at No 1 and garnered positive critical reviews.
According to reports, the new album is being recorded by original members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, with current drummer Steve Jordan. This ongoing project underscores the band’s lasting influence and creative vitality in the rock music scene.
