Noel Gallagher Eyes Oasis Bond Theme and Villain Role in Next 007 Film
Noel Gallagher wants Oasis to write next James Bond song

Noel Gallagher has thrown his and Oasis's hat into the ring for one of British cinema's most coveted musical jobs: writing the next James Bond theme song.

An Honour for a British Band

The legendary guitarist, 58, stated that the iconic Manchester band would "be honoured" to create the title track for the upcoming 007 film. He emphasised his belief that such an iconic piece of music should be crafted by British artists. "I think those kind of things should be done by Brits and, you know, not Yanks," Gallagher remarked during an interview on TalkSport with Andy Goldstein.

When asked how he would respond if Bond producer Barbara Broccoli called with the offer, he quipped: "I’d say ‘all right Babs’... for Oasis to do it? Absolutely, yeah of course." He was quick to clarify, however, that no such approach has been made, despite recent speculation placing Oasis at the top of Amazon's wishlist.

From Music to Movies: A Villainous Ambition

Gallagher's ambitions for the franchise extend beyond the recording studio. The rock star also joked that he would be keen to appear on screen in the blockbuster, suggesting a very specific role. He said he would be up for playing a "Mancunian villain" in the film, adding a distinctive Northern flavour to the series' famous roster of antagonists.

This is not the first time the High Flying Birds frontman has expressed interest in the Bond songbook. He has previously revealed that he has already written a couple of potential theme tunes in the past. Reflecting on one, he said: "I listened back to it thinking, ‘F***ing hell man, that’d make a f***ing great Bond theme’."

Bond's Future and Oasis's Present

The comments come just weeks after Gallagher wrapped up the massively successful Oasis Live 25 reunion world tour with his brother Liam and their bandmates. The tour marked a major comeback for the group, nearly 15 years after their dramatic split in 2009 following a fallout between the siblings.

Meanwhile, the future of the 007 franchise remains a topic of intense speculation. The series has yet to announce who will succeed Daniel Craig as the iconic secret agent, following his departure in 2021 after No Time To Die. The producers have also not revealed who will compose and perform the next theme song.

Recent years have seen major artists like Adele (Skyfall), Billie Eilish (No Time To Die), and Madonna (Die Another Day) lend their voices to the films. The production reins have now shifted, with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson handing over creative control to Amazon MGM Studios as part of a major deal, though they remain as co-owners. British screenwriter Steven Knight, 65, was confirmed in August to be writing the script for the next instalment.

Whether or not the call from "Babs" comes through, Gallagher has made it clear that Oasis, the band behind anthems like Wonderwall and Live Forever, are ready and willing to answer.
