Metallica's Sydney Superyacht Day: Rockers Relax After Epic Australian Tour
Metallica Unwind on Sydney Superyacht After Tour

Following a series of electrifying performances that captivated audiences nationwide, the legendary metal band Metallica embraced a well-deserved day of rest, cruising the iconic waters of Sydney Harbour this past Sunday.

Rock Royalty at Rest

The iconic quartet – comprising frontman James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo – embarked on their day of leisure aboard the luxurious superyacht, Seven Star. They were accompanied by a close-knit group of friends and family, transforming the outing into a celebratory post-tour gathering.

Joining the metal icons were members of the support act, Suicidal Tendencies, which includes Robert Trujillo's 21-year-old son, Tye. Also present were James Hetfield's partner, Adriana Gillett, and Robert Trujillo's wife, Chloe.

A Closer Look at the Rockstar Style

Ever true to his rock and roll roots, 62-year-old James Hetfield stepped out in a classic ensemble of black jeans and a Waylon Jennings T-shirt. He completed his look with a black and white trucker cap, aviator-style sunglasses, and a pair of comfortable black slides.

His partner, 45-year-old Adriana Gillett, showcased effortless style in a flowing satin playsuit, elegantly adorned with Asian-inspired dragon motifs.

Bassist Robert Trujillo, 61, kept it casual and cool in a white T-shirt paired with Nike Air Jordan shorts and a light blue cap. His wife, Chloe, 53, opted for a navy blue gridiron-style jersey featuring an Rx symbol, which she wore with loose-fitting checked trousers, white sneakers, and remarkably long blonde plaits that reached her waist.

The occasion was a particular family highlight for Robert, who was joined by his son, Tye Trujillo. The young musician, who handled bass duties for Suicidal Tendencies during the tour, embodied the rocker aesthetic in a plain black V-neck T-shirt, light blue jeans, and aviator sunglasses, with his brown hair falling to his shoulders.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett, 62, embraced a casual, nautical vibe with a navy blue collared shirt and red shorts, topped off with a blue Dixxon cap. Drummer Lars Ulrich, 61, also chose a relaxed outfit, consisting of a plain black T-shirt, light grey chino shorts, a grey Quicksilver cap, and bone-coloured thongs.

From Tour Triumphs to Tender Tributes

The group appeared thoroughly content in each other's company, having just concluded a hugely successful Australian tour. This harbour excursion wasn't James Hetfield's first maritime adventure during the trip; he was previously spotted on a ferry to Rottnest Island before the band's opening show in Perth.

In a more poignant moment, Hetfield also took time to visit a touching tribute to Metallica's original bass player, Cliff Burton, while the band was in Melbourne. He visited the city's famous AC/DC Lane, where a mural honouring the late musician was being completed. A photo shared on the band's official Instagram showed James standing proudly beside the artwork, which depicted Cliff against a dramatic lightning backdrop.

Cliff Burton, a founding member of Metallica who played on the band's first three seminal albums, was tragically killed in a bus crash in Sweden in 1986 while the band was on tour.

While the tour was met with widespread critical acclaim, it was not without incident. Following the band's performance in Perth on November 1st, some concertgoers took to social media to express dismay over alleged drug use by a small number of attendees in the crowd. Furthermore, two men were charged after reportedly scaling a central tower within the stadium during Metallica's set.
