Liev Schreiber Hospitalised, Cleared After Headache Scare

Renowned actor Liev Schreiber has publicly addressed a recent health scare that saw him rushed to a New York City hospital on Sunday evening, suffering from what has been described as a severe and 'blasting' headache.

Hospital Dash and Recovery

The Ray Donovan star's representative confirmed to TMZ that Schreiber was admitted and spent the night in the hospital under doctor's orders. This was to allow him to undergo a comprehensive 'battery of tests' as a precautionary measure.

By Monday afternoon, the 58-year-old actor's condition had significantly improved. His team released a statement clarifying the situation: 'Out of an abundance of caution, Liev went into the hospital for testing and as of this afternoon, he has been cleared to return to work.' Schreiber was subsequently discharged and was reported to be moving about without issue.

Embarrassment and a History of Headaches

While relieved by his recovery, a source close to the actor revealed to the Daily Mail that Schreiber felt 'embarrassed' by the widespread attention his hospital visit received. The source indicated that the star, who is currently at the height of his career, disliked the perception of appearing 'weak' for seeking medical attention for a headache.

However, this is not the first time a headache has led to a serious health incident for Schreiber. In 2024, while performing in 'Doubt: A Parable' on Broadway, he experienced a debilitating episode. He described a terrible headache that escalated into a frightening situation where he could not remember his co-star's name or his lines on stage.

This event led to a diagnosis of transient global amnesia (TGA), a rare and benign condition causing sudden, temporary memory loss, often linked to migraines. Schreiber recounted on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' that he was convinced he had suffered a stroke, but an MRI confirmed his brain was 'perfectly fine.' He has not had a recurrence since.

Back to Work and Personal Life

Fortunately, this recent episode has not derailed his professional commitments. Schreiber has been in Philadelphia filming an untitled Apple TV+ thriller, an adaptation of Lars Kepler's bestselling novel 'Killer Instinct.' He has now been medically cleared to resume production.

The actor, who is married to Taylor Neisen and shares two children with his ex-partner Naomi Watts, is said to be profoundly grateful to the doctors who treated him and relieved that the 'intolerable' pain has subsided.
