Bad Bunny's Super Bowl LX halftime show on Sunday was a spectacle of star power, featuring surprise appearances from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. The 31-year-old Puerto Rican rapper headlined the performance, delivering hits and heartfelt moments, including shout-outs to every country in the Americas and a younger version of himself with a Grammy.
Lady Gaga joined Bad Bunny for a Spanish-infused rendition of 'Die With a Smile,' while Ricky Martin performed 'Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii.' Other guests included Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Alix Earle, Karol G, Young Miko, and Jessica Alba in background roles.
For eagle-eyed fans, clues about the cameos had been dropping for a week. At the 68th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, both Bad Bunny and Gaga won multiple trophies, with his album 'Debí Tirar Más Fotos' beating her 'Mayhem' for Album of the Year. She responded with happy tears, and the two were seen interacting warmly, including a moment when Gaga tapped his shoulder, causing him to sigh with relief.
Gaga's fiancé Michael Polansky was also caught on camera giving a knowing glance when host Trevor Noah mentioned the Super Bowl to Bad Bunny. Gaga herself headlined the Super Bowl LI halftime show nearly a decade ago.
Ricky Martin's hint came a day after the Grammys, when he published an open letter in Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Día praising Bad Bunny's Album of the Year win. He wrote: 'Benito, brother, seeing you win three Grammy Awards, one of them for album of the year, with a production entirely in Spanish, touched me deeply.' He also commended Bad Bunny's anti-ICE and pro-immigrant stance, noting the audience's silence when he spoke.
