Kylie Minogue switches on Battersea Christmas lights

Pop icon Kylie Minogue brought a dose of festive glamour to London on Thursday evening, presiding over the spectacular Christmas lights switch-on at the iconic Battersea Power Station.

A Night of Festive Glamour

The Australian superstar, 57, stunned the gathered crowd with her show-stopping fashion choices. She first took to the stage in a dramatic red latex dress by Atsuko Kudo, featuring statement puff sleeves and a elegant fishtail skirt that showcased her incredible figure.

To the delight of surprised visitors, Kylie treated the audience to a live performance of her beloved 2015 holiday hit 'Christmas Lights'. Following the performance, she led a joyous festive countdown before pressing a large red button, which illuminated a magnificent 40-foot Christmas tree and thousands of twinkling lights throughout the historic power station.

Dazzling Outfit Change and Album Announcement

Never one to shy away from a dramatic entrance, Kylie later made a spectacular outfit change. Her second look was a sparkly blue two-piece ensemble by David Koma, featuring an Atsuko Kudo bodice embossed with two enormous bows across the front. The stunning gown, which included a thigh-high slit, was perfectly complemented by matching Saint Laurent blue heels, with the singer wearing her signature blonde locks down.

Reflecting on the evening, Kylie said: 'It's been such a magical night here at the iconic Battersea Power Station. I absolutely loved turning on the Christmas lights and seeing everyone getting into the festive spirit!'

New Christmas Music Coming Soon

The festive event also served as the perfect platform to announce exciting musical news. Kylie revealed that a special 10th anniversary edition of her 'Kylie Christmas' album is set for release on December 5.

The updated album, titled 'Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped)', will include four brand new tracks alongside classic favourites like 'Santa Baby' and 'It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year'. The new songs are 'Hot In December', 'This Time Of Year', 'Office Party' and the Amazon Music Original, 'XMAS'.

Kylie expressed her enthusiasm about the project: 'Revisiting Kylie Christmas ten years on has been so much fun. Fully Wrapped has given me the chance to write and record four new songs and add a little extra sparkle - I can't wait for everyone to turn up the volume on the new single, XMAS!'

The singer had already sent fans into a frenzy earlier in the week by teasing the album announcement on Instagram with a glamorous promotional video. Her continued success comes as she makes significant strides in the American market, following the viral success of her 2023 hit 'Padam Padam', which earned her a Grammy and a Las Vegas residency.
