Gary Neville's Buzz 16 Media Empire Generates £11.6 Million in Revenue
Annual financial reports have unveiled that Gary Neville's production company, Buzz 16, achieved a staggering £11.6 million in revenue last year. The Manchester United legend co-founded this sports entertainment organisation, which serves as the powerhouse behind his rapidly expanding podcast empire.
The Overlap Podcast Drives Spectacular Growth
The crown jewel of Buzz 16 is undoubtedly The Overlap - Stick To Football podcast. Its YouTube channel alone amassed an eye-watering 2.2 billion views in 2025, demonstrating immense audience engagement. At the beginning of the year, the company secured a significant deal with commercial radio giant Global, selling a majority stake to fuel further brand expansion.
From this substantial gross revenue, Buzz 16 allocated £4.6 million towards wages and pension contributions. Neville, alongside fellow directors and founders Scott Melvin and Diana Law, distributed over £3 million in dividends to themselves, reflecting the company's robust financial health.
Strategic Expansion Into New Formats and Markets
Since its launch in 2021, The Overlap has evolved far beyond its flagship football show. The brand now encompasses several successful spin-offs, including:
- Fan Debate, hosted by Jamie Carragher with a rotating lineup of celebrity guests
- Football Music and Me, presented by Geoff Shreeves
- The Overlap - Stick To Cricket, which has attracted 103,000 subscribers in just nine months
Buzz 16 has also ventured into sports documentary production, creating acclaimed content such as Rylan: Football, Homophobia & Me for TNT Sports and Micah Richards: Tackling Racism for Sky Sports.
Former England Stars Dominate Podcasting Landscape
Neville is part of a growing cohort of ex-England footballers who have successfully transitioned into media entrepreneurship. Other notable ventures include:
- Paul Scholes' The Good, The Bad, and The Football podcast with Nicky Butt and Paddy McGuinness
- Rio Ferdinand's Rio Ferdinand Presents channel, featuring his popular Rio Meets interview series
However, the undisputed leader in this space remains Gary Lineker's Goalhanger Podcasts. Bloomberg reported that this company generated approximately £37.7 million in total revenue during 2025, representing an astonishing 80% increase from the previous year. Media analysts estimate Goalhanger's potential value could reach £100 million, following its recent stake sale to private investment firm The Chernin Group.
Neville's Diverse Business Portfolio
Beyond his media ventures, Neville maintains an active presence as a Sky Sports pundit and hosts The Gary Neville Podcast with the broadcaster. His investment interests extend across multiple sectors through the Relentless investment portfolio, encompassing:
- Property development
- Educational initiatives
- Hospitality enterprises
This diversified approach underscores Neville's strategic business acumen beyond the football pitch, positioning him as one of Britain's most successful sports media entrepreneurs.
