Cody Simpson's ARIA Regrets & Emma McKeon Duet Plans

Singer and competitive swimmer Cody Simpson made a memorable appearance at this year's ARIA Awards in Australia, sparking conversations with his nostalgic fashion choice and some charming revelations about his personal life.

A '90s Throwback Look and Major Regret

The 28-year-old arrived at Australia's premier music event on Wednesday channelling a distinct Backstreet Boys vibe. His outfit consisted of an oversized brown leather jacket, a pair of ill-fitted jeans, and tinted sunglasses, creating a full '90s throwback look.

However, the athlete-turned-musician quickly developed regrets about his sartorial selection. With red carpet temperatures soaring to a sweltering 30 degrees, Cody confessed to presenter Angela Bishop that he wished he had left a key item at home. "I'd probably like to jump into a pool right now due to how hot it is," he quipped, adding, "And I shouldn't have worn this leather jacket but hey."

Sweet Swapping of Skills with Olympic Girlfriend

In an exclusive chat with Daily Mail, Cody Simpson opened up about the endearing way he has been bonding with his famous girlfriend, Olympic champion swimmer Emma McKeon. The couple, who have been dating since 2022, are teaching each other their professional skills.

"I've been trying to teach her how to sing," Cody sweetly shared. He referenced how McKeon had previously taught him to swim, a partnership that helped him become a Commonwealth Games gold medallist in 2022. "She taught me to swim a few years ago so I'm trying to teach her how to sing."

He didn't rule out a future professional collaboration, hinting, "If we can get there, then we will collaborate, yeah."

The Highly Anticipated Music Comeback

This public appearance comes as Cody Simpson confirms his official return to the music industry, a path he had paused to focus on his competitive swimming career. His attempt to earn a spot on the Australian team for the Paris Olympics was ultimately unsuccessful, paving the way for his musical return.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the artist revealed he is currently assembling new material for what will be his first album in three years. He described the new work as his most personal and reflective to date, blending the myriad of experiences from his unique life journey.

"I feel like it is representative of all of the eras I've had rolled into one," he explained. "It just feels so new and exciting again... I thought I was jaded and I am not. It is exciting." Fans can expect the new music to be released early next year.
