Charli XCX Reveals She 'Hates Touring' as She Launches Acting Career
Charli XCX says she 'hates going on tour'

Pop icon Charli XCX has made a startling confession about her music career, revealing she 'hates going on tour' because she finds it monotonous. The 33-year-old singer, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, shared the revelation in a candid interview for the 13th edition of A Rabbit's Foot magazine, for which she also graced the cover.

From Music to Movies: A Creative Pivot

In the accompanying interview, Charli explained her recent foray into acting, which includes roles in the feature film 'Erupcja' and '100 Nights of Hero', the latter co-starring Emma Corrin and Nicholas Galitzine. She stated that the decision to prioritise acting stemmed from a deep need to stay creatively stimulated and avoid feeling stuck in a routine.

'Look, you might think I'm being dramatic, but I talk to my husband about this all the time - I want to feel life on overload, at full speed. If I couldn't create, I would die,' Charli said. She expressed frustration with the traditional music industry cycle, adding, 'Someone might say, "She's over the top," but the past five years I've been frustrated with my music rollout. I hate going on tour—it's monotonous.'

A Glamorous and Provocative Photoshoot

The singer oozed old-school glamour in the Monica Vitti-inspired cover shoot. In one striking image, she was photographed crawling on a tiled floor in a skintight, plunging black dress and a bobbed curled wig. Other shots from the session, which had creative direction from Fatima Khan and was photographed by Hailey Benton Gates, included:

  • Balancing a glass of wine on her head while wearing a white lace bra bodysuit.
  • Going braless in a purple backless blouse while making a phone call, seen through a window.
  • Flashed side boob in a black boat-neck top and staring pensively out of a car window.

The editor-in-chief for the shoot was Charles Finch, with production directed by Anna Pierce.

Satirising Fame in 'The Moment'

Charli's comments come as she promotes her upcoming mockumentary film, 'The Moment', slated for release on 30 January 2026. The film, from her production company Studio365 and A24, features a fictionalised version of the star and explores the pressures of fame and commercial success.

A trailer released recently shows Charli poking fun at the 'brat summer' phenomenon linked to her chart-topping album Brat, with scripted scenes featuring cameos from Kylie Jenner, Alexander Skarsgård, and Rachel Sennott. In the clip, she questions the relentless marketing, asking, 'Don’t you just think the whole, like, "keep having a Brat Summer!" thing is a bit cringe?'

The synopsis describes the film as an inside look at the music industry, showing 'how subculture is mutated by commercial success.' The score will be composed by her longtime collaborator A. G. Cook.

This creative expansion follows a hugely successful year for the British singer, whose Brat album became a cultural phenomenon and won her multiple awards, including Best Album and Artist of The Year.
