Scarlett Moffatt has expressed her disappointment after being eliminated from I’m A Celebrity… South Africa, just a day before the series finale. The Gogglebox star's departure came after she finished last in a crucial trial, leaving her feeling "gutted."
A Bitter End for the Last Girl Standing
Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec, Moffatt said: "I felt like I was so close. I was the last girl standing." Her exit paves the way for an all-male final, with Olympian Sir Mo Farah, football manager Harry Redknapp, actor and DJ Craig Charles, and actor Adam Thomas now set to battle it out. The quartet will compete for the title of "ultimate legend 2026."
Reflecting on her time in the camp, Moffatt admitted the South African spin-off proved more challenging than her victorious 2016 stint, where she was crowned Queen of the Jungle. "Just the trials. Who comes up with these? They’re sickos," she remarked.
Why She Returned
Asked why she returned to the show, Moffatt said: "This show honestly means everything to us." She told fellow Geordies Ant and Dec: "I just feel like growing up, I watched you two on SMTV Live, and hearing your accent made me feel like, if I wanted to do it, then I could, because of you. It means a lot." She added: "I’ve really, really had the best time."
Questioned about her fellow campmates, she described them as "as mad as a box of frogs" and "eccentrically wonderful." When asked who she would like to see win, she said: "Please Mo. He is just the most wonderful human being. There’s not a bad bone in his body."
The Trial That Sealed Her Fate
The challenge that led to Moffatt's eviction saw the celebrities count coloured balls as they rolled down a tube in front of them while being showered with maggots, cockroaches, crickets and mealworms. The five contestants were then asked how many blue balls there had been, and whoever’s estimate was furthest from the correct figure was evicted.
Other Highlights from Thursday's Episode
Thursday night’s episode also featured the Cyclone challenge, where celebrities had to clamber along a water slide to reach stars while being pelted with huge balls and sprayed with high-pressure hoses. The group successfully completed the task, earning phone messages from their loved ones at home. They also enjoyed a breakfast of 10 eggs after catching them from a large "chicken" roosting in a tree above their camp.
The final of I’m A Celebrity… South Africa will air from 7:30 PM on Friday on ITV1, STV, ITVX, and STV Player.
