UK's Best Garden Centre Unveils Spooky Autumn Range

The Old Railway Line Garden Centre in Powys, Wales, has launched its autumn and Halloween collection, featuring everything from light-up pumpkins and giant spiders to witches and colourful seasonal wreaths. The independent family-run business was crowned the UK's Best Garden Centre at this year's Garden Centre Association Awards, after previously taking the overall title in 2018 and 2021.

Award-Winning Family Business

The awards are based on unannounced inspections, with centres assessed on areas including customer service, product quality, retail standards, staff knowledge and the overall visitor experience. The Old Railway Line has been in business since 1990, when Mark and Christina Cleary began selling home-grown bedding plants from a small greenhouse near the entrance to the site.

More than three decades later, visitors can find a huge selection of plants, gardening products, homeware, gifts and seasonal decorations alongside its farm shop, restaurant and coffee shop. Its current autumn and Halloween collection ranges from small decorations costing less than £5 to a huge animated Halloween figures priced at almost £120.

Seasonal Decorations for Every Budget

Among the cheaper options is a twin pack of Jack-O'-Lantern decorations for £4.99, while Smart Garden sparkle spider Halloween decorations are also available for £4.99. Those looking for something a little less frightening can pick up a 60cm battery-operated warm white maple leaf tabletop tree for £14.99.

Other seasonal choices include a 40cm Fall Minikin wreath for £24.99 and a 180cm Fall Minikin garland for £19.99, which can be used to bring autumn colours into the home. For something more dramatic, a 500cm MegaWeb and Spider Halloween decoration is priced at £19.99, while a 190cm animated cackling witch costs £79.99.

Big-Ticket Items and Visitor Attractions

One of the biggest items on offer is a 1.9-metre sensor-activated animated grinning pumpkin decoration, priced at £119.99. Some products shown on the garden centre's website are already running low or have sold out, but there are plenty more autumn and Halloween decorations available to browse.

Visitors can also do much more than just shop. The garden centre is also encouraging people to brave its Spooky Walkway, which is open every day from now until Halloween and is free to enter. Visitors who want to see the displays for themselves can head to The Old Railway Line Garden Centre in person, while its autumn and Halloween ranges can also be browsed and bought through its website.

The family business has plenty besides its seasonal displays to celebrate this year. Alongside being crowned the UK's best garden centre, it won Best Farm Shop and Best Garden Products Retailer and received Centre of Excellence status.
