Prince William to Guest Edit Country Life Magazine in November
William to Guest Edit Country Life Magazine

The Prince of Wales is set to guest edit a special issue of Country Life magazine, where he will share his most cherished rural view, his favorite recipe, and his preferred painting. This marks the latest in a series of royal guest editors for the weekly publication that celebrates rural living, following in the footsteps of his father, King Charles III; his stepmother, Queen Camilla; and his aunt, Princess Anne.

A Passionate Countryman

Mark Hedges, editor-in-chief of Country Life, described Prince William as a “passionate countryman” who has a deep concern for the welfare of those who manage the British countryside. Hedges expressed his excitement after meeting with the prince to discuss plans for the November 11 edition, noting William’s energy and commitment to improving rural lives.

Content of the Special Issue

The prince’s edition will highlight his love for the countryside and his dedication to environmental protection and enhancement. It will also reflect his advocacy for better access to mental health services in rural areas. The magazine will feature William’s selection of notable countryside champions, his most loved view, his chosen painting, and his favorite recipe.

Royal Tradition

Prince William is not the first royal to take on this role. King Charles III, when he was Prince of Wales, guest-edited Country Life twice—for his 65th birthday in November 2013 and for his 70th in 2018. Queen Camilla’s guest edition in 2022, marking her 75th birthday, became the best-selling issue ever, with a front cover photo taken by the then-Duchess of Cambridge, now Princess of Wales. Princess Anne guest-edited an edition for her 70th birthday in 2020. Additionally, former England football captain and gardening enthusiast Sir David Beckham oversaw an edition in October 2023.

Prince William inherited the Duchy of Cornwall estate, spanning 128,000 acres across 19 counties, when he became heir to the throne. He also owns a countryside retreat, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

The prince will take the helm for the November 11, 2026 issue of Country Life.
