A woman who attended the Royal Family's first garden party of 2026 alongside her husband has shared footage of the exclusive event on TikTok, including the food served at Buckingham Palace.
Garden Party Highlights
VeeVee, known on TikTok as @veeveehmwahx, visited Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, May 6. Her video began as she and her husband entered the garden, which was crowded with fellow guests. She then showcased the refreshments available, served by Palace staff.
What Was on the Menu?
Thrilled VeeVee selected two cucumber sandwiches, one ham and tomato sandwich, a salad wrap, and the obligatory cup of tea. She joked about her spouse: 'This guy thought we were gonna get chicken wings.' Other guests enjoyed an assortment of sandwiches, cakes, and coffee.
Entertainment and Royal Appearances
Attendees were entertained by performances from two military bands. At 4pm, King Charles and Queen Camilla appeared as the National Anthem played. Joining them were the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, presenting a unified royal presence.
One TikTok user commented: 'Lovely and you can't beat an afternoon tea. Hope it was great for you both.'
Upcoming Events
The King will host further garden parties at Buckingham Palace on May 8 and May 12. Two additional events for specific charities will follow later this month, with the first marking the 50th anniversary of The King's Trust. A third will take place at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on June 30 as the Royal Family heads to Scotland for Royal Week.
According to the Royal Family, over 30,000 guests are invited each year to enjoy a relaxed summer afternoon in the grounds of Buckingham Palace or the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The Royal Family's website states: 'Garden parties are an important way for members of the Royal Family to speak to a broad range of people from all walks of life, all of whom have made a positive impact in their community.'
Who Gets Invited?
In summer, the Sovereign traditionally hosts three garden parties at Buckingham Palace and one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland. Historically, garden parties replaced presentation parties for debutantes and have evolved into a way of recognising public service.
What Happens at a Garden Party?
The Palace gates open from around 3pm. The party officially begins when members of the Royal Family enter the garden at 4pm, with the National Anthem played by one of two military bands.
