Gladiators' Falcon Leaves £293k to Children in Will After Cancer Death
Gladiators star Falcon's will reveals £293k inheritance

The family of beloved Gladiators star Bernadette Hunt, known to millions as Falcon, have inherited a substantial sum following her tragic death from cancer in 2023. The formidable competitor, who passed away aged 59, left her estate to her two children, new probate records reveal.

A Substantial Legacy for Her Children

According to documents obtained by The Sun, the total value of Bernadette Hunt's estate was originally £444,000. After debts and costs were settled, the net amount passed on to her son and daughter was £293,000. This means her children, Adam and Angel, received an inheritance running into hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The Brighton-born star, who became a household name in the 1990s, sadly died on 31 March 2023 after a private battle with cancer. Her passing came just weeks before filming was due to begin for the hugely anticipated reboot of the iconic ITV show, which returned to screens last year to a new generation of fans.

Remembering the 'Nicest Gladiator'

Bernadette Hunt appeared in every series of the original Gladiators until its cancellation, captivating audiences with her performances in challenges like Joust, Powerball, and Tilt. She was known for her entrance music, Queen's 'Breakthru', and earned a devoted fanbase who frequently described her as the 'nicest Gladiator' for her willingness to stop and sign autographs.

Her death was announced in an emotional Facebook post by Rick Jango, the partner of Bernadette's elder sister. He paid tribute, writing: "I had the privilege to be in her company a few times and I have to say she was one of the most lovely people I have ever met. She never had a bad word to say about anyone."

Beyond the UK series, her gladiatorial career included appearances on International Gladiators from 1994 to 1995, as well as three live tours. At its peak, the show regularly attracted over 14 million viewers, making stars of its cast, including referees and hosts.

From Ballet to Basingstoke: A Life of Strength

Before her television fame, Bernadette trained as a ballerina, winning a place at the London Contemporary Ballet School at 18. A back injury ended those dreams, leading her to become an aerobics instructor. She first entered the public eye by winning the Miss Natural Health title in 1992, followed by Miss Novice Britain and Miss South Britain.

After leaving Gladiators in 1999 following its eighth series, she built a new career as a personal trainer in Basingstoke. She is survived by her partner, Mark, and her two children, who are now the beneficiaries of her considerable estate, a final testament to her successful and multifaceted life.

The revival of Gladiators has brought a renewed wave of affection for the original stars, making the news of Falcon's legacy a poignant reminder of the show's enduring impact and the personal stories of its iconic competitors.
