Billie Eilish has revealed that her new concert film, Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour, originated from an unexpected email sent by acclaimed director James Cameron to her mother. The American artist, who initially had no plans for a tour film, co-directed and produced the 3D cinematic experience alongside Cameron, the visionary behind blockbusters such as Avatar and Titanic.
A Surprising Proposal
Speaking about the film's origins, Eilish explained that the idea came out of the blue. “James Cameron emailed my mum out of nowhere and proposed making a concert film,” she said. “I was shocked but incredibly honoured. He’s a genius, and the thought of working with him was a dream come true.” The film, which was released earlier this week, captures the energy and intimacy of her latest headlining tour, promising to ensure it “lives on forever” for both herself and her fans. Eilish emphasised the immersive quality of the 3D production, noting that it allows viewers to feel as though they are right there in the audience.
Coachella Surprise Appearance
Beyond the film, Eilish also recounted her impromptu appearance with Justin Bieber at last month’s Coachella festival in California. The opportunity arose just moments before she was scheduled to go on stage. “I got a call asking if I could join Justin on stage, and I didn’t hesitate,” she said. “It was a life-changing dream come true.” Describing the experience as emotionally intense, Eilish admitted that her legs “gave out” during the performance. “I was so overwhelmed that I could barely stand. It was almost too much to process, but it was one of the best moments of my life.”
The concert film and the Coachella appearance mark a significant period for Eilish, who continues to push boundaries in her career. Fans can now enjoy the 3D film in cinemas, while the memory of her surprise duet with Bieber remains a highlight of the festival season.
