A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the latest addition to the Game of Thrones universe, has aired its first season on Sky Atlantic and NOW. The series is set approximately a century before the events of Game of Thrones and 100 years after House of the Dragon, during a time when the Targaryens still hold the Iron Throne but without their dragons.
The story follows Ser Duncan the Tall, a young knight, and his squire Egg, known affectionately as 'Dunk and Egg'. Based on George R.R. Martin's novellas—The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight—the six-episode season concluded on 23 February 2026.
The cast includes Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, and Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, among others. Filming for season one began in Belfast in June 2024, and season two, already confirmed, started filming in December 2025 and is expected to air in 2027.
Martin, who has seen all six episodes, praised the series on his blog, calling the actors 'just incredible'. HBO aims for at least three seasons, one per novella, with season two currently in production.
