Vogue Williams Reveals Secret Health Battle: 'I Was Terrified'

Vogue Williams has opened up about her ongoing struggle with anxiety, admitting that the past two weeks have been particularly difficult. The 39-year-old TV personality, known for her appearances on Irish television and as the wife of former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, revealed that her anxiety often leads to 'catastrophizing' and panic attacks, which have left her 'scared of her health'.

Speaking on the Happy Place podcast with Fearne Cotton, Williams explained that she has good weeks and bad weeks with her mental health. 'This week is a good week, the last two weeks weren't good weeks,' she said. To manage her symptoms, she has stopped drinking alcohol, exercises regularly, and wears two fitness rings to monitor her sleep. She also takes prescribed beta-blockers when needed to help calm her down.

Williams, who shares three children with Matthews, said she sought therapy but initially struggled to benefit from it due to her heightened anxiety. 'I couldn't really get to the point where I was even able to do therapy because I'd be going around clenching my fist and being anxious,' she recalled. Beta-blockers helped her calm down enough to address the root causes of her anxiety, which she says are often triggered by 'life disturbances'.

The mother-of-three described a recent incident where a failed payment for a trip to Turkey led her to believe it was a 'bad omen', illustrating how her anxiety can distort her thinking. However, she emphasised that anxiety can be managed, even if it never fully disappears. 'It can only be managed, it will always come back and go away,' she said.

Williams married Spencer Matthews in 2018 after meeting on the set of Channel 4's The Jump. The couple now lives with their children Theodore, Gigi, and Otto. Her candid discussion highlights the importance of seeking help and finding personalised strategies to cope with mental health challenges.
