Sam Rubin, the former Hollywood correspondent for ITV's This Morning, died from a heart attack brought on by coronary artery disease, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has confirmed. The 64-year-old passed away on 10 May after being rushed to hospital with stomach pain.
Rubin, who also hosted Hollywood Uncensored, called 911 from his home and was taken by ambulance to a Los Angeles hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 11 a.m. The medical examiner ruled the manner of death as natural, citing ischemic heart disease due to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.
In a statement shared on 9 July, Rubin's employers at KTLA 5 News said: 'Beloved KTLA 5 News entertainment anchor Sam Rubin died from a heart attack brought on by coronary artery disease.' The network added that his sudden death was mourned by millions of viewers across the nation and around the world.
Rubin joined KTLA in 1991 and became one of the top local news personalities in the US. He also contributed to This Morning, delivering Hollywood news and gossip, with his last studio visit in 2018 alongside presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie, and four children: Perry, Rory, Darcy and Colby. Rubin received several Emmys, a Golden Mike award, and a lifetime achievement award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association during his career.
