Dragons' Den star Touker Suleyman has taken to social media to clarify his departure from the BBC series after a decade on the show. The 72-year-old entrepreneur confirmed earlier this month that he would be stepping down, but he has now addressed speculation about his future in business.
Suleyman's Instagram Statement
In a video shared on Instagram, Suleyman said: "Hello everybody. You've probably heard or read [that] after 10 years being on Dragons' Den, I'm retiring." He quickly clarified: "I'm not retiring in business, but I'm retiring from the Den."
He expressed gratitude to fans, the BBC, his fellow Dragons, and the entrepreneurs who appeared on the show. "It's been a real privilege and honour to be on the Den for 10 years," he added.
New Ventures Ahead
Suleyman revealed that he is focusing on his own businesses and teased the launch of a new lipstick brand in September. He also plans to mentor aspiring entrepreneurs and potentially start a podcast. "I might be approaching 73, but I'm not done yet!" he declared.
Support from Co-Stars
The announcement drew an outpouring of support, including from former co-star Steven Bartlett, who commented: "We miss ya uncle T." Sara Davies, who left the show last year, wrote: "You'll be such a big miss." Fans also shared their appreciation, with one noting: "The Den won't quite tick the same without Touker time."
Dragons' Den is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
