Henry Cavill at Royal Ascot Sparks James Bond Casting Calls
Henry Cavill at Ascot: Fans Demand James Bond Role

Henry Cavill turned heads at Royal Ascot on Thursday, attending the prestigious event for the first time. The actor, known for playing Superman and Enola Holmes, looked dapper in a top hat and tails, prompting fans to flood social media with the same reaction: they want him as the next James Bond.

First Visit to Royal Ascot

Cavill, 43, attended the second day of the world-famous racing fixture. In a video posted on Ascot's official Instagram, he described the experience as "absolutely amazing." He shared the day with several Royal Family members, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and others.

"This is my first time coming to Royal Ascot, and what a day to come," Cavill said. When asked about being in the parade ring with the royals, he added: "It was amazing. I saw them from a distance... It was an amazing experience." He also rang the Parade Ring Bell, admitting, "I may have rung it too hard."

Highlander Remake and Bond Hopes

Cavill discussed his latest project, a remake of the 80s classic Highlander, which has just finished filming. "I think everyone's going to enjoy it," he said. "All the things that people loved from the 80s movie are in there, and all the things that people maybe might squint at in this era are enhanced upon."

Fans immediately latched onto the Bond idea. One wrote: "That's my choice for Mr Bond and forever Superman!" Another said: "Make him James Bond already." A third commented: "James Bond incarnate!" Cavill has long been a fan favorite for the role, reportedly narrowly missing out to Daniel Craig for Casino Royale in 2006.

The Next James Bond

Details about the next 007 film remain scarce, nearly five years after Daniel Craig's final outing in No Time To Die. The upcoming movie, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for Dune. He is currently finishing Dune: Part Three, expected in December, before starting Bond work.

Other names in the running include Tom Holland, Taron Egerton, and Jacob Elordi. Sir Idris Elba, long touted by fans, revealed he is not in contention, saying Amazon is "going younger." However, Elba expressed openness to playing a Bond villain. Filming is expected to begin next year, with a 2028 release.
