Carrick Gets Easier Start Than Amorim at Man United

Michael Carrick has been handed a more favorable start to the 2026/27 Premier League season than Ruben Amorim received in 2025/26. The fixtures, released on Friday morning, show United beginning with an away trip to newly-promoted Hull City at the MKM Stadium, followed by a home match against Ipswich Town. This means United face two of the three promoted teams in their opening two games.

Early Season Schedule

After the first two matches, United travel to Everton. While this is not an easy fixture, the overall start is much gentler than last season's daunting run. In 2025/26, United opened against eventual champions Arsenal at Old Trafford, losing despite a strong performance. Subsequent games against Fulham, Burnley, Manchester City, and Chelsea made the first five matches extremely challenging.

This season, Carrick's side can build momentum from a promising start. The fixture list was less kind to Amorim, who managed only two wins from the first six games, putting him on the back foot early.
